March 2023: Video support, WebXR, New ArborXR Home, and more!
Our latest release includes new capabilities that will significantly benefit enterprise, education, and healthcare XR use cases.
Now, ArborXR offers native video playback and WebXR compatibility in our launcher, ArborXR Home, to make XR content easier to access for end-users.
We've also revamped ArborXR Home's UI and included custom color themes to tailor your experience, built support for a new enrollment option (QR code), added additional enterprise Wi-Fi support, enhanced content sharing, and fixed a few bugs.
As always, we appreciate your feedback, so please contact us with any questions or comments about these features or how we can continue to improve ArborXR.
Take a quick look of each new feature below 👇🏼
Native Video Playback in ArborXR Home
You can now pin shortcuts to 360°, 180°, and 2D videos in ArborXR Home, so that users can one-click-launch. Launching a video shortcut plays the video in ArborXR Home’s native video player.
You can also:
Remotely launch videos on behalf of users within VR
Apply tags to videos then use those tags as filters in ArborXR Home
Learn more about native video playback here.

WebXR Support in ArborXR Home
You can now pin shortcuts to webXR links in ArborXR Home, so that users can one-click-launch. Launching a pinned webXR link will launch the device's native web browser with the webXR URL preloaded, so that users won’t have to type in the URL into the browser themselves.
You can also:
Remotely launch webXR links on behalf of users within VR
Apply tags to webXR links then use those tags as filters in ArborXR Home

ArborXR Home UI Redesign
ArborXR Home has been redesigned to incorporate customer feedback, improve the user experience, and bring it in line with VR design best practices. In addition to the UI redesign:
The UI has been moved from 7m distance to 0.75m distance, which significantly improves the stability of the hand tracking pointer
Sound effects and animations have been added for hover and selections, making it easier for users to know which VR buttons or actions are clickable

Theme ArborXR Home with Custom Colors
You can now customize the colors of ArborXR Home to fit your brand. You can select from 4 pre-configured themes or create and save your own themes.

QR Code Device Enrollments
Setup and enroll devices into ArborXR via a QR code instead of using the Device Setup App. This means no more toggling on USB debugging, plugging in cables, and setting up devices via ArborXR's Device Setup App

QR code enrollments is natively offered by Android and many XR devices support this enrollment method.
Supported devices include:
Magic Leap 2
Pico Neo 3 Pro
RealWear devices
Vuzix devices
Tablets
Pico 4 Enterprise (coming soon)
HTC VIVE Focus 3 (coming soon)
Meta Quest devices unfortunately do not support this enrollment method though support for enrolling Quest devices via Quest for Business is coming soon.

SCEP Certificate Support
We've improved our Wi-Fi provisioning functionality to include support for the SCEP certificate protocol for Wi-Fi authentication.

Improvements to App Sharing
The following improvements have been made to app sharing to give greater visibility to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs):
Monitor the number of devices that have a specific shared app installed
View the date your shared app was accepted
View app sharing history to monitor who shared what and when

Bug Fixes
After powering on a Quest device and confirming the guardian, the time spent in Meta’s Home before ArborXR Home has been reduced from 10 seconds down to 3 seconds.
File and .obb deployments would sometimes fail on devices running Android 11 or higher.
Custom 360 images were not centered correctly.
What to Look Forward to Next
We have some big features planned for the near future and we can’t wait to share them with you!
