New in ArborXR: Save Bandwidth with Differential Updating, PICO firmware, and more

Two weeks ago, we introduced Remote View. Now, we're excited to share several more significant features and improvements that will save you time, bandwidth, and frustration.

This latest ArborXR release gives you more control and efficiency when managing your fleet of XR devices.

Check out what’s new 👇🏼

Differential Updating

Differential updating saves you bandwidth and time. Now, when pushing out app updates over WiFi - only the portions of the app package that changed will download rather than the full app package.

For example, if a new version of an app comes out that is 1.3GB, but only 100MB of the app changed, then differential updating will only push the new 100MB over WiFi in the update.

This will make it faster to update apps, and you’ll save bandwidth by not having to download apps in their entirety over your network with every new update.

This feature is included in all ArborXR plans and occurs automatically, with no action needed from the user.

Note: Currently this feature is limited to .apk files and does not support .zip files containing an .apk + .obb.

PICO Firmware Management

You can now remotely control PICO firmware updates on your PICO Neo 3 Pro, PICO 4 Enterprise, and PICO G3 headsets through ArborXR. This allows you to:

  • Disable automatic firmware updates so you can test new versions before rolling out.

  • Set a target firmware version so devices won't auto-update beyond a version you specify.

With these capabilities, you have full control over PICO firmware management rather than devices updating unpredictably. You can test the compatibility of new firmware versions and strategically roll out updates when ready.

Open WebXR Links in Wolvic Browser

WebXR links launched from ArborXR Home now automatically open in the Wolvic browser if installed on Quest headsets.

Using the Wolvic browser for WebXR provides two key benefits:

  • Wolvic enables "kiosk mode" for WebXR content, so users can't navigate to other websites. Instead, they’ll be focused on the WebXR content you’ve assigned them.

  • Wolvic is more reliable for WebXR than the default Quest browser based on recent firmware changes.

We recommend installing Wolvic on your Quests to take advantage of these benefits. Learn how to install Wolvic via ArborXR here.

Disclaimer: Wolvic is a third party open source browser not affiliated with ArborXR.

  Flexible Directory Paths

Specify the directory path for file deployments at the time of installing files to devices or groups. This means you can upload a file once and then deploy it to different directory paths across different devices and groups!

Updates to Plans

Good news! We’ve made two significant features available for all our plans!

  • QR Code Enrollment: Enroll non-Quest devices into ArborXR by scanning a QR code, rather than sideloading ArborXR via the Device Setup App. Previously, this was only offered on the Essential and Enterprise plans.

  • Enterprise Wi-FI Certificates: Remotely provision SCEP and Imported PKCS certificates to connect your devices to your organization’s enterprise Wi-Fi network. Previously, this was only offered on the Enterprise plan.

What to Look Forward to Next

We have some big features planned for the near future, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

  • ArborXR Home and Kiosk Mode support on Lenovo VRX

  • Session Analytics & Device Metadata BI Tool Integration

  • Magic Leap 2 Firmware Management

  • 3D Environment for ArborXR Home

  • Release Channels
